Have a Nice Trip

Being on tour with The Pink Dots, I only had a chance to see "Have a Nice Trip" a couple of days ago for the first time.
Never was a cd so appropriately covered! I opened it up to see the caricature of myself and Cevin exploring the inner space at Subconscious Studio and had to agree-that's EXACTLY how it was!
All the action took place in February 2008 when I stayed with Cevin in Los Angeles for 2 weeks.
We recorded relentlessly, volume knob cranked up to 11, exotic perfumes in the air, spontaneous manifestations ghosts in tie-dye t-shirts. ALIENS!!!
Loved every second of it and I think the sheer joy of it all is right there on that disc.
My personal favourite is probably "Made in China Part 2". Ken Marshall mixed that one and he brought tears to my eyes. It's just so damned beautiful.
Still, it is one hell of a trip. I always love working together with cevin...it's a friendship that goes back 25 years now and I reckon it shows in the music.
Can't wait to bring it all to a stage one of these days…
