PIER PAOLO PASOLINI was an Italian director, screen writer, essayist, poet, critic and novelist. He was best known outside of Italy for his films, many of which were based on literary sources: The Gospel According to Saint Matthew, The Decameron, The Canterbury Tales, Salo or The 120 Days of Sodom. He often used shocking juxtapositions of imagery to expose what he saw as the vapidity of values in modern society.
This compilation is a musical tribute to one of the most influential and respected Italian artists of the 20th century, including unreleased and rare songs from artists such as COIL, BAHNTIER, SPIRITUAL FRONT, AH CAMA SOTZ, IN SLAUGHTER NATIVES, BLACK SUN PRODUCTIONS, ALIO DIE, TEATRO SATANICO and many others.

Eduardo Pola
One of the best things in making this website is that we can meet interesting people from all around the world.
We have recently met fellow Skinny Puppy fan Eduardo Pola who is an outstanding painter from
Mexico.
Eduardo is looking forward to his first European exhibition in Berlin called Insomnio. From his website:
"Undisputed heir of XIXth century painting, Eduardo Pola searches for influences in artistic currents such as symbolism, neoclassicism, and romanticism, rescuing characteristics and elements from these schools to develop a novel pictorial personal language, identified by its intelligent representation of self-centered situations and philosophical approaches of great transcendence.
His work is grounded on the aesthetic of realism, with a terribly critical or dramatized vision of situations, achieving a crude objectivity which displays a great deal of erudition about myths and beliefs, both religious and philosophical, and which at times resemble an infinite accumulation of signs or an intricate riddle of semantic references."

A nice little piece of history for us. We have found very entertaining that only the Budapest club is missing from the list so we had to solve the mystery. After a short investigation we found out that the concert was in the legendary underground club The Black Hole.

After the limited release of the single Roots (available only through the Rustblade website) Stefano Rossello, Filippo Corradin and Justin Bennett give us the long awaited new full-length album.
VENAL represents another large step forward in the evolution of the band, characterized by a genre crossing post-industrial blend of progressive electronics, harsh ebm-like aggressiveness, cyber-punk flavors, and symphonic psychedelic noise. The album is clear evidence of the writing ability and eclectic influences of this Italian cult band, able to take us from an obscurely accessible hit song all the way to experimental and suffering paranoid atmospheres.
The sound of the disc expands the horizons of the Rustblade label and serves to highlight the band with it’s own definitive identity and originality. Helped along by the optimum production of Justin Bennett and song writing of Stefano Rossello, VENAL is sure to be one of the most highly anticipated genre-defying alternative albums of the year.
Guests for this outing include William Morrison (American Memory, Ohgr) offering guitar sounds and the notorious underground painter Saturno Butto providing artwork. Garnering fevered attention from the alternative press, this release is absolutely not to be missed!
In addition to the cd version Rustblade gives us a luxurious limited edition in a handwritten numbered box.
The limited box edition contains the VENAL cd plus a single mini cd with two unreleased tracks and a remix by Ambassador 21, a mini dvd with Roots videoclip and VENAL trailer, a sticker, a patch, two postcards, and a poster.
